Folded horn designs.

I was taking a look at the guts of the JL Audio H.O. enclosure and thought, Why the hell isn't anyone copying these things for three or more woofers just to see what happens?!!

It's done, a series tuned 4th order I believe

Fourth order is a bandpass, isn't it? The JL H.O. has no enclosure to speak of and is basically a tuned horn.

Can you smell that? My brain farted on that one! let me see if I can find the cut away I was looking at.

It's a psudeo series tuned 6th order bandpass.

Just another marvelous "plug 'n' pray" enclosure that another large audio manufacturer produced to keep the masses entertained...

I've heard one. Pretty okay for what it is. Still won't beat Josh's 2 1510's in a horn.

I've never heard one, so I can't comment on the sound.

The design itself however, doesnt look incredibly efficient. Nothing very special about it. It looks like what Cam said, a psudeo 6th order BP, were the main vent is coupled with another "chamber" of sorts. Nothing horn like about it. It looks fancy though.

Thanks for the correction, and I believe your right. However the cut away I was looking at was an actual H.O. not JL's drawing for the masses. Port starts small and progressively gets bigger until it hit's the baffle.

And its patented... LOL....

It's a legit patent number.
